If we define peak as those marginal accomplishments that bring him highest in career rankings, then certainly his peak is right now. Getting the third Finals MVP was massive, hypothetically getting the fourth would be too. (For what it’s worth I already have him as #3 all time and what he does this year won’t change that.)

With that said, I don’t think that’s how this article is talking about peak and it wasn’t how I was either. We were talking about production rather than historical standing, which can even peak after a player’s career: the dead do sometimes improve, so to speak.
